Sheraton Manila: A Birthday Staycation in Pasay

For Lauan's 5th birthday, my sister booked us for a weekend staycation at Sheraton Manila located in Resorts World in Pasay.  Prior to the pandemic, we frequented the area because it's near my parents' house, but we hadn't been going there because of the coronavirus lockdown. I was curious to see Resorts World again.  As soon as we checked in and got out of the elevator on our floor, Lauan went over to the large picture windows that offered a great view of the airport.  We took a few minutes to watch airplanes landing and queuing up to take off. Now that Lauan turned 5, we could get him vaccinated at last, and we may just be able to board an airplane to travel again sometime soon.  But for now, staycations are an easy alternative.

My sister booked a loft bedroom - I didn't even know they had those! The room is located on the 3rd floor where the pool, gym, spa, and kids' club are - so it's quite convenient.  Upon opening the door, there's a spacious bathroom with tub to the right, then a couch with dining table, and a king size bed in a high ceiling room. There's a steep and narrow staircase leading to the loft which has 2 beds and its own bathroom, shower, and tv. The loft is a great way to bond in the "same" room (we do enter from a single door) while still having separate spaces.

Soon after checking in, we changed to swimwear and went to the huge shared pool between Hilton and Sheraton.  The pool area had many sections, decks, jacuzzis, pool bars, lounge areas, dining alcoves, and even dining bubbles designed for pandemic protocols. It populated with many staycationers, just enough to be lively without being too crowded. My kids absolutely had a blast in the bubble pool. They would've loved to stay longer but I had to fish them out as soon as the pizza I ordered arrived. We just had enough time to eat our snack, shower and change clothes, and make it to our 6pm reservation to use the Kids Club.
(They required socks to enter and use the Kids Club which meant going back and forth to fetch socks! The kids were running because they wanted as much time to play as possible before the place closes).

By 7pm, it was time to leave the Kids Club. We crossed the connecting bridgeway to Newport Mall where we had dinner at Italiannis with my sister and parents.  And playtime wasn't over for our kids, there was a gaming arcade at the top floor of the mall - the newly re-opened play zone called Limitless which we visited after dinner.  It was a super active staycation for the birthday boy. When it was time for bed, he watched a bit of Animal Planet on tv then he was asleep in minutes, knocked out from a day of making the most of his birthday stay at Sheraton Manila at Resorts World.

Date of visit: April 2-3, 2022
