Apartment 1B Laiya: Beachfront gourmet dining in Batangas

The gourmet comfort food we had at Apartment 1B made our overnight stay at The Henry in Laiya a beach getaway and a food trip rolled into one!  It's just a wonderful selling point - to have a real restaurant at a resort. A few weeks back, we were at Camp Netanya in Anilao, and my sister and I were thinking, what if the Santorini inspired architecture came with food from established Greek restaurants like Cyma or Cafe Mediterannean? The food in Camp Netanya was so-so. Ok, but not memorable. Which is not the case with Apartment 1B!  Our dining experience was a highlight of our stay!

We started with cocktails at sunset. The staples did not disappoint. In preparing our Pina Colada and Margarita the bartender did not scrimp on ingredients.  And the shady garden setting, airy-loungy feel, and the stretch of beach and view of the sea right in front of us just made us feel driving out here was worth the trip.

Then our food orders arrived. We had the crispy squid rings and cheese wontons in marinara sauce and both dishes arrived piping hot and bursting with flavor. Ang sarap!

Our kids were done swimming and they just wanted to do their own thing. The older boy needed wifi to connect with his friends, so he stayed in our room, while the younger boy roamed around the garden and beach, exploring and picking up leaves, sticks, and stones. We just let him be. Our table was right by the beach and garden and we can keep him within sight while he let his imagination run wild with his natural discoveries.

Our cocktails stretched on to dinner. My husband ordered liempo and pasta, and we went to bed quite satisfied with how our day turned out. We slept  early and enjoyed the comfy beds. I was very excited for breakfast.  Our room rate included breakfast for 2, but there were 4 of us, and the extra 2 people in our party had to order breakfast separately - lucky me, I got to choose from the menu the breakfast I really wanted: Apartment 1B's salmon and spinach eggs benedict!

That dish is still on my mind as I write this. It was so good I had to say "ang sarap" with every bite. Even the veggie sides were so enjoyable! I just polished off my plate.  I felt like I truly went on vacation while having that meal.

And the standard breakfast wasn't bad either!  Continental options came with choice of ham, bacon, or corned beef while the Filipino breakfast options were tapa, longganisa, or bangus - all with rice, eggs, vegs, toast, coffee and juice.  Our enjoyable meals at Apartment 1B made our stay at The Henry Resort Taramindu in Laiya beach so much better.
